SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Lincoln Land Championship presented by LRS will partner with HSHS Central Illinois Division to promote the health benefits of walking at the 2018 tournament. On Friday, June 29 and Saturday, June 30 spectators will be greeted by representatives from HSHS as they arrive on the course, and the first 75 attendees each day will be gifted with a pedometer as a means to encourage awareness of the steps taken throughout the day. Walking just 30 minutes every day has great health benefits, and it can be easier than you may think to get the recommended 10,000 steps per day while enjoying the golf tournament.
“We are always looking for new ways to expand our partnerships to increase interest in the tournament.” Said tournament director Kate Peters. “We are thrilled to partner with our friends at HSHS to encourage golf fans to make the most of the 7-miles of cart paths at Panther Creek.”
Just 30 minutes of walking each day can improve your overall fitness and personal wellbeing, improve your mood, energy levels and flexibility and reduce stress levels. “Walking has the power to prevent or help manage various conditions, including heart disease, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes. It can improve balance and coordination and is a key component of an overall healthy lifestyle,” said E.J. Kuiper, president and CEO of HSHS Central Illinois Division Hospitals. “We are excited to partner with the Lincoln Land Championship to highlight the importance of walking.”
The Lincoln Land Championship presented by LRS will be held June 25 – July 1 at Panther Creek Country Club in Springfield. Tickets for the Lincoln Land Championship are available for purchase online at www.LincolnLandChampionship.com
